NYSC: Nigerian Army Applauds NYSC Deployment Policy for Promoting Cultural Integration
Brigadier General OD Williams has applauded the deployment policy of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) for promoting cultural integration.
Brigadier General OD Williams, the Commander of the 22 Armoured Brigade of the Nigerian Army based in Ilorin, Kwara State, has applauded the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) for its deployment policy of posting Prospective Corps Members (PCMs) outside their states of origin for their one-year national service.

Speaking during a courtesy visit by the Director General of the National Youth Service Corps, Brigadier General YD Ahmed, to his office in Ilorin, General Williams emphasized the significant role played by the NYSC in fostering cultural orientation and integration among Nigerian youths.
"The deployment policy of the NYSC, which involves posting Corps Members to states other than their own, has tremendously exposed many youths to cultural diversity, allowing them to integrate with other tribes' cultural values, beliefs, and norms across the country," General Williams remarked.
He further highlighted that the NYSC service year has not only facilitated cultural exchange but has also contributed to the unity of Nigeria, citing instances where former Corps Members have found life partners from different ethnic backgrounds, thereby fostering stronger national unity.

Additionally, General Williams praised the NYSC for its efforts in empowering Corps Members with relevant job skills, enabling them to become self-reliant and independent after their service year.
In response, Brigadier General YD Ahmed expressed gratitude for the support received from the 22 Armoured Brigade of the Nigerian Army in Kwara State towards the NYSC Kwara State Secretariat. He acknowledged the Brigade's assistance and called for continued support to enable the scheme to build upon its achievements.
