Students of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) have expressed frustration over the challenging process of obtaining their academic transcripts, despite paying significant fees. Over 100 alumni shared their experiences on social media, citing missed international academic admissions and scholarships due to delays in receiving their transcripts.

The university has outsourced transcript processing to ETX , an online consultant, which charges between N20,500 and N25,000 for electronic and hard-copy transcripts. However, students claim that the process is often delayed or truncated, with some not receiving their transcripts even after payment.

ETX blames OAU for the delays, stating that the university's slow processing is the main issue. The company claims to have helped thousands of students and institutions exchange transcripts globally, with the approval of the National Universities Commission (NUC) and the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE).

OAU's spokesperson, Abiodun Olanrewaju, acknowledged the challenges and apologized for the inconvenience. He stated that the Vice-Chancellor, Eyitope Ogunbodede, has visited the transcript office to fast-track the process and improve it.

Aggrieved students have called for a revamp of the system, citing lost opportunities and funds. Alumni propose digital solutions to streamline the process, suggesting that the university's manual processing is outdated.

The university has promised to address the issue, but students remain frustrated, seeking a more efficient and effective transcript application process.
