Ondo State Police Command has initiated an investigation into the tragic death of Ayandare Modupe, a 500-level student at Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA). Modupe, affectionately known as "Comrade Modesty," was found dead in Akungba under suspicious circumstances.

The deceased, a student in the Agronomy department within the Faculty of Agriculture, was reported missing after leaving a vigil around 4 am. Contrary to initial assumptions of suicide, eyewitness accounts and video evidence suggest foul play.

Oluyemi Fasipe, a youth advocate, emphasized the need for a thorough investigation, stating, "The circumstances surrounding her death look very suspicious. I am calling on the @OndopoliceNG to critically investigate this matter, as this looks more like a case of murder."

The Ondo State Police Command confirmed the incident via a tweet, noting that the case had been reported at the Akungba Division and is currently under investigation. Police Public Relations Officer, Funmilayo Odunlami, acknowledged that while the initial report suggested suicide, the ongoing investigation aims to uncover the truth.

Social media has been abuzz with calls for justice from Modupe's colleagues and friends. Adesola Ikulajolu, a graduate who knew Modupe well, described her as a "young, vibrant, and outspoken lady," adding that her untimely demise was a significant loss.

Udofia Shalom, another graduate, echoed these sentiments, sharing that Modupe was his successor as the Faculty vice-president in 2021 and lamenting that she "did not deserve this kind of treatment at all."

Modupe's impact extended beyond her academic pursuits. Anike Akoriola noted that Modupe was a passionate volunteer and the President of the Rotaract Club of AAUA. Akoriola expressed her sorrow, stating, "This is so sad as Rotaract D9125 mourns. May all the perpetrators be brought to book. Rest in peace dear partner."

The Ondo State Police Command continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding Modupe's death, with the community and social media users urging for a comprehensive and just resolution.
