Ondo Principal Arrested for Alleged S€xual Assault on 14-Year-Old Student

In a disturbing case brought before the Akure Magistrates’ Family Court in Ondo State, a 14-year-old secondary school student has testified against her school principal and clergyman, Adetunji Obatayo, aged 55. Adetunji Obatayo now faces serious charges. He has been remanded to prison custody by the Magistrate family court for defiling the 14-year-old girl and procuring abortion for her three times.

In a disturbing case brought before the Akure Magistrates’ Family Court in Ondo State, a 14-year-old secondary school student has testified against her school principal and clergyman, Adetunji Obatayo, aged 55. The victim revealed that she had undergone three abortions due to her principal’s alleged sexual abuse.

According to the victim’s testimony, the abuse began when she was just 10 years old. She had been released by her parents to live with Pastor Obatayo, who also served as the principal of her school. However, instead of providing guidance and education, he reportedly took advantage of her vulnerability.

“On my first day in his house,” the victim recounted, “he forcefully had sexual intercourse with me and warned me not to tell anyone about it.” Over the years, she endured multiple pregnancies, with the principal allegedly providing money for contraceptive drugs to terminate them. However, during the third pregnancy, he refused to fund the abortion, leading her to steal money to purchase the necessary pills.

The courageous teenager eventually informed her parents about the abuse after she was wrongly accused of theft by the principal. As a result, Obatayo was arrested and remanded to prison custody by the Magistrate family court, facing charges of defilement and illegally procuring abortions for the young girl.

Adetunji Obatayo now faces serious charges. He has been remanded to prison custody by the Magistrate family court for defiling the 14-year-old girl and procuring abortion for her three times. The offenses are in violation of Sections 218, 230, and 328 of the Criminal Laws of Ondo State, 2006.

Presiding Magistrate B.A. Alphonso ordered that the defendant be held at the Olokuta Correctional Centre. The case file has been sent to the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for further advice. Additionally, the victim will receive rehabilitation support.
