The Ondo State government has announced the approval of a N3.5 billion Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) counterpart fund aimed at enhancing the construction and renovation of public primary schools throughout the state. This significant funding decision was disclosed by the Commissioner for Education, Laolu Akindolire, following the State Executive Council meeting chaired by Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa.

Akindolire emphasized that the N3.5 billion investment is expected to yield over N7 billion in total funding for educational improvements. “Our commitment to improving education in Ondo State remains unwavering,” he stated. He further highlighted that the approval of the counterpart fund, offered at zero interest, underscores the governor's dedication to supporting school infrastructure.

In addition to educational initiatives, the government has taken significant steps in public health. Special Adviser on Health, Simidele Odimayo, reported a low incidence of Lassa fever and confirmed zero cases of cholera and monkeypox in September. Odimayo encouraged communities to stay vigilant and adhere to health precautions, announcing an upcoming nationwide health initiative, “Project 10 Million,” scheduled from October 13 to October 19, aimed at screening residents for hypertension and diabetes.
