The College of Information and Technology Education (COITED) at Lagos State University of Education (LASUED) has commenced its highly anticipated 3-day international conference, themed "Innovative Strategies for Leveraging Technology and Information to Enhance Learning and Development." The event, held at the Oluremi Tinubu Hall on the Oto/Ijanikin main campus, runs from September 24 to 26, 2024.

In a speech delivered by the Acting Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration), Dr. Morufudeen Adeniyi Shittu, on behalf of the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Bidemi Bilkis Lafiaji-Okuneye, the significance of the conference was underscored. Dr. Shittu emphasized the critical need for the education sector to adapt to the digital age, stating that leveraging technology and information could significantly enhance the quality of education, educational infrastructure, and teaching techniques.

Lagos State Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Hon. Tolani Sule, also addressed attendees, highlighting the transformative impact of technology on traditional teaching methods. "Technology has redefined the way we teach and learn. It’s not just about the tools but about harnessing their potential to improve learning experiences," he noted. The Commissioner reaffirmed the Sanwo-Olu administration's dedication to advancing tertiary institutions like LASUED, emphasizing the importance of events like this in keeping education at the forefront of innovation.

The Acting Dean of COITED, Dr. Imran Adeleke, represented by Dr. Illiasu Jinadu, Head of the Department of Library and Information Science, stated that the primary goal of the conference is to enhance learning and development while eliminating outdated methods. "We aim to leverage internet services and electronic tools to enlighten students on academic and knowledge-based practices," Dr. Jinadu said.

Dr. (Engr.) Zosu Sogbenu Joseph, Chairman of the Conference Organizing Committee, described the event as a platform for intellectual discourse and collaboration. "This conference fosters idea-sharing and the forging of partnerships. Each session is designed to provoke thought and inspire solutions to the challenges faced in education today," he remarked.

The conference has brought together experts, educators, and stakeholders to share best practices and innovative strategies for leveraging technology to improve learning outcomes and contribute to national development.
