Erelu Ngozi Adeleke, the esteemed Wife of Osun State Governor, has made a resounding call for the acknowledgment and celebration of the strength and capabilities of every girl-child within the state. This impassioned plea came during a special event organized by the Women Inspiration Development Centre in commemoration of the International Day of the Girl Child.

The International Day of the Girl Child, observed annually on the 11th of October, serves as a poignant reminder of the gender-based challenges and obstacles faced by girls worldwide. Recognizing the significance of this occasion, the United Nations established this day to draw attention to the inequalities that girl children encounter and to amplify their voices. The theme for 2023 emphasizes "Invest in Girls' Rights: Our Leadership, Our Well-being."

Addressing an audience of young girls hailing from two prominent institutions, Osun State University and Obafemi Awolowo University, Mrs. Erelu Ngozi Adeleke articulated the state's commitment to championing the fundamental rights and equitable opportunities that every girl deserves in all facets of life. Her message underscored the importance of treating girls with fairness and respect.

Represented by Mrs. Teniola Lanlehin, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Education matters, Mrs. Adeleke urged girls, including those with disabilities, to be discerning in their interactions with the allure of the internet, cautioning them not to be beguiled by the glitzy facade of online platforms.

This call to empower and recognize the strength and potential of girls, regardless of their circumstances, aligns with Osun State's steadfast commitment to nurturing a future where every girl-child is afforded the respect, opportunities, and support she needs to thrive and excel.
