Otti Vows to Transform ABSU to World-Class Institution
Governor Alex Otti vows to fulfill his commitment to transform Abia State University into a world-class citadel of higher learning following the submission of a comprehensive report by the Visitation Panel.
The Executive Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Otti, OFR, has reaffirmed his dedication to transforming Abia State University (ABSU) into a world-class citadel of higher learning. This commitment comes as the Visitation Panel set up earlier in the year submits its comprehensive report on the state of the university.
Governor Otti, who initiated the panel with a mandate to assess 12 critical areas within ABSU, emphasized from the outset that the goal was not merely to find fault but to enhance the university's educational, administrative, and governance standards. Speaking upon receiving the panel's report on Thursday, June 20th, the Governor underscored the pivotal role of education in the state's developmental agenda. He highlighted that despite allocating 20% of the 2024 budget to the education sector, the focus remains on strategic investments rather than indiscriminate spending.

He assured that the government would swiftly act upon the recommendations to drive transformative changes within ABSU. "Our pursuit of excellence leaves no room for mediocrity.
