Physically Challenged Student Breaks 17-Year-Old Record at Gombe State University
Ibrahim Abubakar, a physically challenged student and amputee, defied societal and academic odds to become one of the most outstanding graduates in Gombe State University’s history. In 2021, he graduated with First Class Honours in Islamic Education, becoming the first student to achieve this since the university’s establishment in 2004.
Throughout his journey, Ibrahim’s brilliance and commitment earned him many prestigious certificates and awards, underscoring his excellence in academics and mentorship. Beyond the classroom, he held several leadership positions in different student associations, where he consistently advocated for the rights of persons with disabilities, promoted academic excellence, and fostered unity among students.
Currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Educational Psychology at Gombe State University, Ibrahim remains committed to intellectual growth and social transformation. His life story continues to inspire many, especially students living with disabilities, as a powerful testimony of courage, discipline, and the unbreakable human spirit.
