PLASU Newly Inaugurated SUG Officials Urged to Remain Transparent and Accountable
Plateau State University’s Acting Vice Chancellor, Professor Shedrack Best, emphasizes the need for transparency and accountability among newly sworn-in SUG officials.
Plateau State University (PLASU) has officially inaugurated its new Students Union Government (SUG) with a strong emphasis on transparency and accountability. The ceremony took place at the Old Senate Chamber, Faculty of Natural and Applied Sciences.
Acting Vice Chancellor Professor Shedrack Best, in his address, congratulated the newly elected SUG officials and underscored the significance of transparent leadership. "Leadership is about trust, and trust is built on transparency and accountability," Professor Best stated. He urged the new SUG leaders to embody integrity, fairness, and inclusivity, while focusing on the welfare of their peers.
Representing Professor Best, Dean of Students Affairs Dr. Felix Masok pledged to maintain an open-door policy, promising a responsive administration that values student concerns.
The oath of office was administered by Barrister Alex Kaze, who emphasized the sacred nature of oath-taking, which demands a commitment to truth and justice.
In his acceptance speech, SUG President Donald Yaksun Didel vowed to address essential needs such as water and power supply on and off campus. Former SUG President Timothy Gomos also expressed his appreciation for the Professor Shedrack Best-led administration, praising its effective tenure.
