KHAIRUN Commemorates International Day for Persons with Disabilities
The event, themed "Amplifying the Leadership of Persons with Disabilities for an Inclusive and Sustainable Future," was held at the Alhaji Ahmed Mai Deribe Theatre, KHAIRUN.
Khalifa Isyaku Rabiu University, Kano (KHAIRUN), in collaboration with the Center for Gender Studies, Bayero University Kano (BUK), Learning Disabilities and Education Consult (LEDEC), and Bunny Hugs Therapy, marked the 2024 International Day for Persons with Disabilities on December 3. The event, themed "Amplifying the Leadership of Persons with Disabilities for an Inclusive and Sustainable Future," was held at the Alhaji Ahmed Mai Deribe Theatre, KHAIRUN.
Alh. Usman Alhaji, former SSG of Kano State and Wazirin Gaya, emphasized the importance of empowering persons with disabilities to lead an inclusive future. KHAIRUN Vice Chancellor, Prof. Abdulrashid Garba, reiterated the university’s commitment to providing accessible learning spaces, citing facilities like a dedicated elevator for persons with disabilities.
The event ended with a vote of thanks from Prof. Hassana Sani Darma, Chairperson of the KHAIRUN Seminar and Public Lecture Committee, who encouraged ongoing support for persons with disabilities.
