PLASU Welcomes Prof Keziah Ayuba as New Deputy Vice Chancellor of Administration
Plateau State University has appointed Associate Professor Keziah Ayuba as the new Deputy Vice Chancellor of Administration, marking her as the first female to hold this position.
Plateau State University has officially welcomed Associate Professor Keziah Ayuba as the new Deputy Vice Chancellor of Administration. She assumed her duties on September 30, following her election by the university's senate during its 90th meeting on September 26. This appointment follows the conclusion of Associate Professor Jurji Gomos' tenure.
In a brief handover ceremony, Associate Professor Ayuba received essential office documents and equipment from her predecessor. Expressing her gratitude, she acknowledged the university senate for the opportunity to serve in this significant role. “I pledge to contribute to the university's growth and development,” she stated.
In her remarks, Associate Professor Ayuba also paid tribute to Associate Professor Gomos, thanking him for his unwavering guidance and support throughout her decade-long career at the university. She described him as a brother, friend, and mentor, and expressed her commitment to making him proud while appealing for his continued support in her new position.
Addressing the gathering, Associate Professor Gomos offered words of wisdom to the new Deputy Vice Chancellor, urging her to be strong and resilient in the face of challenges. “You will see a lot of faces. Some will like you, and some will not. But you must be courageous,” he advised. He congratulated her on her appointment and welcomed her to her new role.
Notably, Associate Professor Ayuba makes history as the first female Deputy Vice Chancellor at Plateau State University and the second DVC for Administration overall. Her election marks a significant milestone in the university's commitment to fostering leadership diversity.
