Presidency Assures Student Loan Scheme Not Forgotten, New Launch Date to Be Announced
The Presidency has reassured the public that the student loan scheme remains a priority, with plans to announce a new launch date after the postponement of the planned commencement.

In a briefing following Wednesday's Federal Executive Council meeting, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, affirmed the government's commitment to the student loan scheme, clarifying that the delay in the launch does not indicate abandonment.
Explaining the reasons behind the postponement, Onanuga cited the need for logistical adjustments to ensure a successful and well-organized launch of the programme. Despite the setback, he emphasized President Tinubu's dedication to realizing the initiative, considering it as one of his flagship programmes.
Originally scheduled for March 14, 2024, the launch of the student loan scheme faced postponement, prompting clarification from the Presidency regarding the rescheduling of the event. The announcement comes amid anticipation following previous postponements and delays in the scheme's implementation.
President Tinubu's administration has prioritized the student loan scheme as part of its efforts to enhance access to education and provide financial support to indigent students pursuing higher education.
