Prof. Aderonke Mojisola Baiyeroju Celebrates 70th Birthday and Retirement

A valedictory program was held in honor of Prof. Aderonke Mojisola Baiyeroju, a Professor of Ophthalmology, as she celebrated her 70th birthday and retirement from the University of Ibadan and the University College Hospital (UCH) Ibadan. The event took place on August 13, 2025, at the Paul Hendrickse Hall, College of Medicine, University of Ibadan.

The program included the launch of a book authored by Prof. Baiyeroju, with all proceeds directed towards the advancement of the Ophthalmology Department at UCH.

Prof. Dupe Ademola Popoola delivered the valedictory lecture, speaking on the theme "Vision Begins Early" and emphasizing the importance of early detection and treatment of vision problems in children.

Prof. Peter Olapegba, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration, described Prof. Baiyeroju as a "Titan, Visionary Leader, and Cherished Mentor," highlighting her legacy in clinical services and mentorship.

Prof. Temidayo Ogundiran, Provost of the College of Medicine, noted that Prof. Baiyeroju's most enduring legacy is the Paediatric Ophthalmology Unit she established, which has become a beacon of hope for children across Nigeria.
