Prof. Kate Azuka Omenugha Transforms Ojukwu University with 3Vs Framework

In the past five months, Professor Kate Azuka Omenugha, fnipr, has made significant strides as the Acting Vice Chancellor of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU) in Anambra State. Since her appointment by Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo on December 5, 2023, Professor Omenugha has implemented a visionary policy framework centered around the 3Vs – Values, Viability, and Visibility – which has brought remarkable improvements to the university.
Under her dynamic leadership, COOU has witnessed transformative changes that emphasize discipline, character, and ethics. Her efforts have elevated the university's global profile through strategic partnerships and collaborations with prestigious institutions in Poland, the USA, Serbia, the United Kingdom, and China.

Professor Omenugha, a renowned professor of mass communication at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, is also a fellow of the Institute of Public Relations. She serves as the Southeast Regional Consultant on Human Capital Development for the Core Working Group in the Office of the Vice President of Nigeria. Her tenure as the Honourable Commissioner for Education and later for Basic Education in Anambra State from 2014 to 2022, marked by her dedication and innovative approach, left an indelible mark on the state's education sector. Her commendable service earned accolades from WAEC for maintaining the integrity of examinations in the state.
Her success in education drew significant diaspora support, including the Ndi Anambra Aberdeen Scholarship Initiative, benefiting outstanding public primary and secondary school students in Anambra State.

Professor Omenugha's expertise in mass communication and public relations has led to numerous publications in national and international journals. Her tenure as the Head of the Department of Mass Communication at Nnamdi Azikiwe University saw the establishment and growth of UNIZIK 94.1 FM, the campus radio station, which gained recognition as Nigeria's best campus radio station in 2013.
A devoted family woman, Professor Omenugha is married to a rural medical doctor and is a proud mother of six accomplished children. Her dedication to community development and philanthropy is reflected in her numerous chieftaincy titles, including Ugogbe Mmuta and Adaejiejemba. As a member of the Knights of St. John International and a council member of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, her contributions extend beyond academia.
