Religion key to peace, devt, says Fulafia VC Abdul Rahman
The Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Lafia (FULafia), Prof. Shehu Abdul Rahman, has identified religion as a critical factor in building and sustaining peace and development in any society.
Abdul Rahman spoke during the Second Personality Lecture Series of the Department of Christian Religious Studies of the Federal University of Lafia.

The lecture was held at the Mallam Adamu Lecture and Office Complex, Permanent Site Campus of the University.
He said that religion, culture and tradition play critical roles in ensuring respect for humanity and love for one another, adding that the concepts of peace and love for one another were embedded in the teachings and practices of all religions.

Abdul Rahman commended the Department of Christian Religion Studies of the University for choosing the topic: "Religion, Traditional Institution and the Quest for a New and Better Nigeria" and identifying His Royal Majesty, DA Jacob Gyang Buba, the Gbong Gwom Jos, to speak on the topic.
He said that the only way the country can achieve development is to promote peace and unity, “because without peace and unity development will continue to elude us.”
Abdul Rahman stated that there was no better place to initiate a template for promoting enduring peace and unity than universities, noting that a university is a community of scholars with a wide range of knowledge and experience.
He thanked the Gbong Gwom for accepting to come to the Federal University of Lafia to deliver the lecture, hoping that the knowledge gained from the lecture would make a positive impact on the University and society in general.
In his address, the chairman of the occasion, His Royal Highness, Dr. Ayuba Agwadu Audu (JP), the Zhe Migili, commended Abdul Rahman for the good work he was doing in the University, assuring him of the support of the traditional institutions in the state.
Represented by Huduyamba Agidi, the Yariman Migili, Dr Agwadu commended the CRS department for initiating the Personality Lecture Series, saying it was a wonderful way to enlighten the younger generation to imbibe the values of religion and culture.
In his welcome address, the Head of Department of Christian Religion Knowledge Studies of FULafia, Dr Loveday Onyezonwu thanked the vice-chancellor for his support to the department and ensuring the successful hosting of the event.
He said that the department of CRS was determined to promote the academic culture of regularly hosting public lectures, seminars and conferences.
Also speaking, the Dean of the Faculty of Arts of FULafia, Prof Muhammad Tanko Aliyu, congratulated the department of CRS for organising the lecture which was aimed at enlightening and shaping peoples' belief in the Creator and environment.
In their separate goodwill messages, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Research and Partnerships, Prof. Samaila Usman Dakyes and Dean, School of Postgraduate Studies, Prof. Victor Dugga, commended the guest lecturer, DA Jacob Gyang Buba, for his depth of knowledge and experience.
They, also, commended the CRS department for successfully holding the second Personality Lecture Series.
Some of the dignitaries who attended the Lecture included the FULafia Registrar, Malam, Nuradeen Abdu, Prof. Gaius Umahi, Prof. Ibrahim Awwal and the Head of Quality Assurance of FULafia, Dr Abubakar Hassan Ahmed II.
