Reps Laud TETFUND for Promoting Research and Innovations as Kalu Calls for More Innovative Hubs in S/East

The House of Representatives has commended the management of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) for its efforts in promoting creative research and establishing innovative hubs to enhance science and technology education among Nigerian students and youths.
During the closing ceremony of a two-week cohort learning program at the Abuja Innov8 Hub, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Benjamin Kalu, praised TETFund for championing creative activities aimed at developing the minds of Nigerian youth with innovations.

The program, known as the "Research for Impact Initiative (R4i)," is a collaborative effort between TETFund and Innov8 Hub, launched in 2022 to foster innovation, technology, research, and development in Nigeria, thereby promoting economic growth and national development.
Hon. Kalu emphasized the importance of innovation in addressing Nigeria's challenges, stating that innovation is essential for unlocking economic growth, addressing complex challenges, and building a brighter future for the youth and future generations.

Hon. Kalu acknowledged the partnership of the Embassy of the State of Israel in Nigeria and the Israeli community in fostering innovation and entrepreneurship in Nigeria, expressing appreciation for their support.
Furthermore, he called for the establishment of similar innovation hubs across the South East region of Nigeria to mitigate the impacts of insecurity and underdevelopment, emphasizing the potential of the region for harnessing innovation and entrepreneurship.
In his remarks, the Executive Secretary of TETFund, Arc. Sonny Echono, described the initiative as part of the Fund's strategy to reposition public tertiary institutions as catalysts for national rebirth towards a knowledge economy for socio-economic development.
