Reps Vow to Intervene in UNIJOS Electricity Disconnection Over Bill Hike

The House of Representatives has pledged to intervene in the recent electricity bill hike and subsequent disconnection of the University of Jos (UNIJOS) from the main power supply. The situation has raised concerns among students, staff, and the local community.

The Jos Electricity Distribution Company (JEDC) recently reclassified electricity consumers, placing UNIJOS under its Band A distribution. Unfortunately, this reclassification led to a significant increase in electricity bills for the university, resulting in financial strain. As a consequence, the institution faced disconnection by the electricity distribution company.
