Rivers State University Launches “Ehianomics” Through 119th Inaugural Lecture
The Vice-Chancellor of Rivers State University (RSU), Prof. Isaac Zeb-Obipi, has lauded Prof. Sancho Nwobusi Chukwu for delivering a groundbreaking lecture that introduced Ehianomics—a homegrown economic philosophy inspired by the resilience of the palm tree, symbolizing adaptability, regeneration, and strength.
The Vice-Chancellor of Rivers State University (RSU), Prof. Isaac Zeb-Obipi, has lauded Prof. Sancho Nwobusi Chukwu for delivering a groundbreaking lecture that introduced Ehianomics—a homegrown economic philosophy inspired by the resilience of the palm tree, symbolizing adaptability, regeneration, and strength.

Prof. Chukwu presented the 119th Inaugural Lecture titled "Dynamics of Ehianomics: The Nigerian Experience," emphasizing the need for Nigeria to transition from crisis management to proactive, regenerative planning. He highlighted job creation as central to economic recovery and stressed that politics should serve the collective good rather than mere survival.
The lecturer called for a reimagined economic framework rooted in dignity, inclusivity, and shared prosperity, offering bold recommendations on peacebuilding, social safety nets, inclusive policies, and national economic rethinking.

Prof. Zeb-Obipi commended Prof. Chukwu, noting that he has “contributed his block to the architecture of Nigeria,” and urged government adoption of these insights to alleviate citizens’ daily struggles.
The event attracted a distinguished audience, including Principal Officers of RSU, Prof. Okechukwu Onuchukwu, Acting Vice-Chancellor of Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, Emeritus Prof. S. C. Achinewhu, former RSU Vice-Chancellor, former Deputy Vice-Chancellors Prof. Boma Oruwari and Prof. Victor Akujuru, as well as several past Provosts and Professors across the state.

The lecture further reinforced Rivers State University’s commitment to generating homegrown solutions to national challenges.
