The South African National Accreditation System (SANAS) team, led by Madam Tati Khubheka, conducted a two-day visit on May 6th and 7th, 2024.

The accreditation visit aimed to evaluate the PCR laboratory's adherence to international standards set by SANAS. The PCR lab plays a crucial role in diagnosing various infectious diseases by detecting the presence of genetic material in patient samples.
During the two-day visit, the SANAS team thoroughly assessed the laboratory's infrastructure, equipment, processes, and quality management system. They also reviewed the qualifications and competencies of the laboratory staff, ensuring that they possess the necessary skills and knowledge to perform accurate and reliable PCR testing.
The RSUTH management team actively participated in the accreditation process, providing the assessors with all the required documentation and information. They also facilitated the assessors' access to the laboratory facilities and answered any questions or clarifications they had.

The Chief Medical Director, Prof. Chizindu A.
