School of Agriculture and Agricultural Technology (SAAT) orientation Programme for the newly admitted students.

The School of Agriculture and Agricultural Technology (SAAT), FUTA recently organized an orientation Programme for the newly admitted students to provide them with guidelines that can guarantee a successful academic sojourn in the university. The orientation was held on Thursday 24th, August 2023 at the Hilltop Auditorium.

The Dean, Professor Oluwatoyin Osundahunsi said the orientation was organized in order to educate the new students on how to make the most out of their stay in the university. She said “We organized this orientation programme because we want you to pass through the university and the university also to pass through you equally as well".

She commended the students for their success in the UTME and encouraged them to show the same commitment to their study in the University.

All the Heads of Departments who were present at the event gave a short briefing about their respective departments which includes achievements, prospective job opportunities, scope of the field and relevance in the job market so the students can have an idea of what they're getting into.

There were lectures to sensitize the students on things to expect as well as what to do to avoid failure and to excel academically. In a lecture titled "Character and Attitudes expected of Undergraduates" delivered by Dr. (Mrs.) Omowunmi Ayodele , she emphasized the importance of upholding good character and attitude while in school as the university awards a bachelor's degree on character and learning.

Speaking on “Indecent Dressing and Examination Misconduct: Know the Position of FUTA" d Dr. (Mrs.) Funmilayo Arifalo warned the students about the dangers of indecent dressing in school and how it could adversely affect them. 

The final lecture was titled Student Academic Performance: Understand the System of Assessment which was delivered by Professor. Adebanjo Badejo. He enlightened the students on the relevance of working hard and laying a solid foundation from the beginning of their studies.

The Class Governor, SAAT, Ibukun Ogunjobi on behalf of other students appreciated the Dean, Heads of Departments and lecturers for organizing the orientation stating that they learnt a lot and it would be of great help and assistance to them as they study in the institution.
