A Saudi Arabia philanthropist has begun constructing a mosque at FULafia, with additional facilities including residences, shops, and an Islamic school.

Saudi Arabia Philanthropist Commences Mosque Construction at FULAFIA

A philanthropist from Saudi Arabia has generously undertaken the construction of a new mosque at the Federal University of Lafia (FULafia). This significant development was disclosed by the Vice-Chancellor of FULafia, Professor Shehu Abdul Rahman, during a recent visit to the Governor of Nasarawa State, Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule, to express gratitude for his support in establishing the FULafia Teaching Hospital.

Professor Abdul Rahman further shared the news while hosting Lafia indigenes working at the University, who visited him to appreciate his role in the establishment of the teaching hospital. According to the Vice-Chancellor, the construction of the mosque began in August 2024 and is expected to be completed within five months.

In addition to the mosque, the project includes the construction of residences for the imam and his deputy, a pharmacy, various shops, and an Islamic school. Professor Abdul Rahman expressed deep gratitude to the Saudi philanthropist, emphasizing that such a generous act "can only be rewarded by Allah."

He encouraged the local Muslim community to view the mosque as a blessing and urged other affluent Muslims to invest in the growth and development of their religion. 

This new mosque, once completed, is expected to serve as a spiritual hub for the university and the surrounding community.
