Security is a Top Priority at FULafia, Says VC Abdul Rahman

The Vice-Chancellor of Federal University of Lafia (FULafia), Professor Shehu Abdul Rahman, has reaffirmed his administration's strong commitment to maintaining a secure environment for students, staff, and neighboring communities. During a stakeholders meeting held at the university's MIS Multipurpose Hall on the Permanent Site Campus, Professor Abdul Rahman outlined key security measures, including intelligence gathering, proactiveness, and the use of whistles as tools to address safety concerns.

"Our proactive approach to security matters underscores FULafia's dedication to providing a safe and conducive environment for all to live in," he said, highlighting the University's commitment to a secure academic atmosphere.

In addition, Professor Abdul Rahman announced plans for continued workshops aimed at enhancing safety awareness among students and staff. He also urged students to avoid adopting “fake lifestyles and hypocrisy,” warning that such behaviors could increase their vulnerability to dangers.

Professor Ali Ishaq Shugaba, Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Administration, stressed that “security is everyone’s business” and urged all stakeholders to collaborate with the university in creating a secure space. He expressed gratitude to those who attended and appreciated the Vice-Chancellor's support in organizing the meeting.

The meeting included key contributions from security experts, including representatives from the Divisional Police, Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), and local vigilante groups. Among the attendees were Malam Nuradeen Abdu, Registrar; Prof. Sambo Hudu, Dean of Student Affairs; as well as leaders from neighboring communities, heads of security agencies, local landlords, and members of the Students Representative Council (SRC).
