Six outstanding students from KolaDaisi University, Ibadan, have been named fellows of the prestigious United Nations Millennium Fellowship, emerging successfully from a pool of 44,000 applicants.

Under the mentorship of Dr. Sekinat Kola-Aderoju, Acting Director of the Academic Planning Unit, and Dr. Archibong-Okonneh from the Department of History and Diplomatic Studies at KolaDaisi University, the following students achieved this remarkable feat: Anuoluwapo Soyege, Moyinoluwa Oni-falohun, Adefolajuwon Akerele, Toyosi Ojofeyitimi, Emmanuel Olufayo, and Oluchi Obinta.

Mr. Haruna Olawale Adetu, the Registrar of KolaDaisi University, extended heartfelt congratulations to the fellows, urging them to pursue even greater accomplishments. He emphasized that while their selection as United Nations Millennium Fellows is a significant achievement, it should serve as a launching pad for further success rather than a limit.

This announcement was conveyed in a statement released to journalists by Margaret Innocent, the Principal Public Relations Officer of KolaDaisi University.

The selection process for the class of 2023 witnessed an impressive turnout, with 44,000 young leaders vying for inclusion from 3,000 universities and campuses spanning 170 nations worldwide. KolaDaisi University proudly represented one of the 260 selected campuses globally, receiving approximately nine percent of the total applications from 38 countries.

The United Nations Millennium Fellowship, conducted in collaboration with the United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI), provides a unique platform for students to make a tangible impact on the world by contributing value to their communities.

This achievement adds to the growing list of accolades garnered by both students and staff of KolaDaisi University in recent times.

Furthermore, Dr. J. O Akanni, a faculty member of the Department of Mathematical and Computing Sciences, has been granted admission to the Afox Visiting Fellowship at the Department of Mathematics, University of Oxford, United Kingdom. During his tenure at the University of Oxford, Dr. Akanni will undertake research focusing on public health education, fumigation, and related areas.
