SUN Vice-Chancellor receives Toastmasters Division Director
The Vice-Chancellor of Skyline University Nigeria (SUN), Prof. Ajith Kumar V. V., has today, September 6th, 2024, received the Division J Director, District 130 and the immediate past President of Kano Toastmasters Club in his office.
Their visit was to applaud the university for its remarkable achievements and discuss areas of collaboration with the premiere institution.
In his remarks, the Vice-Chancellor said the SUN Toastmasters Club has witnessed extraordinary growth since its establishment. He said many students and staff have benefitted immensely from the training they have received during the club’s activities. He acknowledged that the beneficiaries have prospered in communication, building self-confidence and articulation of words.
Speaking during their meeting, Division J Director, Mohammed Alhassan DTM, said he was in the university about 4 years ago and can vividly recall the enthusiasm shown by the Vice-Chancellor regarding the establishment of the club. He said he was at the university to bring good wishes and commend the university for its unwavering support to the toastmasters activities.
He acknowledged that the university offers the best quality education as the first private university in Kano State. In his words, “we are proud to associate with this university. It is the first private institution to establish the Toastmasters Club in the whole of Africa.”
Alhassan lauded the skills that SUN students and graduates exhibit in their different places of endeavor. He narrated his great encounter with Aisha Zannah in Abuja, where she explained how she was groomed by SUN through the Toastmasters Club. He also praised the skills of Fatima Sherrif, a recent graduate from the university.
Alhassan then encouraged the university to keep grooming youths in areas of communication and leadership competencies. “In years to come, this generation will remember the landmark this institution has made in the nation,” he said.
Umar Farouk, the immediate past president of the Kano Toastmasters Club, speaking during the meeting, said the SUN Toastmasters Club is indeed worthy of emulation by other upcoming ones. He said the Kano Toastmasters Club will certainly keep supporting the SUN club as always.
In closing, the Vice-Chancellor proposed getting additional clubs in the university to give more students and staff the opportunity to get upskilled. He appreciated their presence.
