Sokoto Governor Increases Corps Members' Allowance by 100%

The Governor of Sokoto State, Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto, has announced a 100% increment in the allowance of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members deployed to Sokoto State. The allowance has been raised from N5,000 to N10,000 for their mandatory one-year service.

Governor Aliyu made this announcement during the joint orientation exercise for Sokoto and Zamfara states at the NYSC temporary orientation camp, Farfaru, Sokoto, while swearing in Batch 'A' stream 1 corps members posted to the states.

The Chairperson of the NYSC Governing Board and Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youths, Sport and Social Development, Muhammad Bello, called on the corps members to uphold discipline during their orientation exercise. He highlighted the regimental nature of camp activities and stressed the importance of discipline in coping with the daily routine.

The State Coordinator of the NYSC, Mr. Usman Yaro, expressed gratitude to Governor Aliyu for his support and appreciated various stakeholders for their roles in the camp. The event featured the administration of national and NYSC oaths on the corps members by the state Chief Judge, Justice Muhammad Saidu Sifawa, represented by Justice Ibrahim Tambuwal.
