Sokoto Senator Awards 42 Scholarships for Overseas Studies

Senator Ibrahim Lamido (APC Sokoto-East) has awarded overseas scholarships to 42 indigent students from Sokoto State. The announcement was made during the presentation of award letters in Sokoto, with Lamido represented by Isa Ambarura, the member for Gwadabawa/Illela Federal Constituency.

The scholarships, part of a 100-slot foreign scholarship scheme, will enable students to pursue degrees in Medicine and Allied Sciences, Engineering, and Robotics Studies at Indian universities. The beneficiaries were selected from the eight Local Government Areas of Sokoto East Senatorial District.

Senator Lamido emphasized that the scholarships are intended to enhance educational opportunities and professionalism, aiming to secure a brighter future for the youth. He encouraged the students to remain disciplined and to serve as good representatives of their state and country.

Prof. Mu’azu Shamaki praised Lamido’s initiative, noting that it complements his previous support, including providing JAMB forms, paying registration fees for students, and offering stipends. Lamido’s efforts have supported over 2,000 students and provided resources for youth and women in the district.

Student representative Kabiru Abubakar-Turawa expressed gratitude for the opportunity and pledged to honor the trust placed in them.

The local government areas in the constituency include Sabon Birni, Rabah, Illela, Gada, Goronyo, Wurno, Gwadabawa, and Isa.
