UDUS Lecturer Dr. Bala Bakwai Kwashabawa Raises Concern Over Students' On-Campus Relationships

Students Now Living as Husband and Wife on Campus' - UDUS Lecturer Dr. Bala Bakwai

A lecturer at the  Usman Dan Fodio University, Dr. Bala Bakwai Kwashabawa, has expressed concern over students engaging in husband-and-wife relationships on campus.

Dr. Kwashabawa, from the Faculty of Education, made the remarks during an 'Edu 304' lecture on October 3, 2024, at the ETF3 lecture hall.

He noted that some students, not officially married, are cohabiting on campus, blurring the lines between campus relationships and marriage. The lecturer emphasized that the key difference lies in the absence of a religious decree.

Dr. Kwashabawa warned that if left unchecked, this trend could lead to unacceptable behavior, including students "camping" others on campus.

The university's control over off-campus relationships is limited, but Dr. Kwashabawa hopes the institution can curb the issue within its premises.
