Sule Lamido University Hosts First International Conference on Science and Innovation

Sule Lamido University Kafin Hausa (SLUK) has hosted its first international conference, themed "Science and Innovation in the 21st Century: Interdisciplinary Solutions to Global Challenges." The conference was held on July 3, 2025, and was organized by the Faculty of Natural and Applied Sciences.

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Muhammad Ibrahim Yakasai, reaffirmed the university's commitment to supporting research and innovations. He emphasized the need for scientific advancements, technological innovations, and cross-disciplinary collaborations to address global challenges such as climate change, food insecurity, and public health crises.

The keynote speaker, Professor Isah Yusuf Chamo, Honourable Commissioner of Jigawa State Ministry for Higher Education, Science and Technology, highlighted the importance of institutions of higher learning evolving into innovation hubs. He emphasized the need for promoting cross-disciplinary research, supporting research commercialization, and investing in STEM education.

The Dean of the Faculty, Dr. Idris Zakariyya Kiri, stated that the conference aimed to foster collaborations and knowledge exchange to solve various global problems. The conference featured papers on scientific advances and public health, including presentations by Professor Muhammad Bashir Ibrahim and Professor Muhammad Mustapha Abubakar.
