Rising Nigerian football star, Sunusi Ibrahim, currently playing for CF Montréal in Canada, has recently entered into an exciting partnership with the Federal University of Lafia (FULafia) aimed at enhancing sporting activities within the institution. This collaborative effort seeks to improve sports infrastructure at FULafia and provide a platform for nurturing young talent.
The partnership was officially announced during a courtesy visit led by Prof. Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu of the Physics Department to the Vice-Chancellor of FULafia, Prof. Shehu Abdul Rahman. During the meeting, Ibrahim expressed his enthusiasm for contributing to the development of sports at the University. He highlighted the importance of harnessing the creativity and potential of youth to shape the future of sports in the country.
In his response, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Abdul Rahman warmly welcomed the initiative. He emphasized the University's commitment to modernizing its sports facilities and underscored the vital role sports play in fostering students' physical well-being. Prof. Abdul Rahman also directed the University's sports directorate to work closely with Ibrahim to explore ways to boost sporting activities on campus.
Representing the sports directorate, Mr. Williams Auta expressed his gratitude for the collaboration and predicted that it would lead to better performances among FULafia's athletes. This partnership promises to be a significant step forward in transforming the University into a hub for athletic excellence.
Sunusi Ibrahim, born on October 1, 2002, in Keffi, Nasarawa State, began his football career with FC Basira Football Club in Lafia before moving on to the Nigerian Professional Football League, where he played for Nasarawa United. Now a forward for CF Montréal, Ibrahim’s story is one of dedication and growth, and he is eager to give back to his roots through this partnership with FULafia.
