Suspected Bandits Abduct Five Female Students from Federal University in Katsina State

In a distressing incident, suspected bandits have reportedly invaded the student dormitories of the Federal University in Dutsinma (FUDMA), Katsina State, abducting five female students. The incident unfolded on Wednesday morning, October 4, in the off-campus student dormitories located behind the Mariamoh Ajiri school, near Wednesday Market in Dutsinma.

The victims, hailing from Kano and Nasarawa states, include two final-year students. As of the time of this report, the condition and whereabouts of the abducted students remain unknown, as the kidnappers have not yet established contact with their families.

Confirming the abduction, the Katsina State Police spokesperson, ASP Abubakar Aliyu, revealed that the incident occurred at approximately 2 a.m. on Wednesday. He further disclosed that one individual suspected of supplying information to the bandits has been arrested, and efforts are underway to safely rescue the abducted students without causing them harm.

It is important to note that both male and female students of the Federal University in Dutsinma (FUDMA) reside off-campus. This incident comes in the wake of a recent abduction of an undisclosed number of students at the Federal University Gusau in Zamfara State.

In related news, Professor Lawal Bilbis, the vice-chancellor of Usmanu Dan Fodio University (UDUS), addressed reports of a bandit attack on the institution. He clarified that the incident was, in fact, a robbery and not an orchestrated bandit attack as initially speculated on social media. Professor Bilbis reassured parents and the university community that there is no cause for alarm regarding the safety of students at the institution.
