Table Tennis Association Supports Otti's Agenda, Donates Facilities to Secondary Schools in Abia

In a significant stride towards promoting sports development in Abia State, Mr. Dike Dimiri, the Chairman of Abia State Table Tennis Association and President of Aba Premier League Table Tennis, has donated 100 table tennis boards, playing bats, and sets of balls to 100 Secondary Schools across the state. During the presentation ceremony at Government College Umuahia, Mr. Dimiri emphasized that the donation aimed to ignite a passion for table tennis among the youth and transform Abia into a breeding ground for future champions. The Chairman also announced a scholarship opportunity for the Inter-Collegiate Championship, further motivating students to excel in the sport.

However, Mr. Dimiri set a clear condition for the scholarship recipients, stating, "No grade, no play." He stressed the importance of academic excellence alongside sporting prowess, emphasizing that students must maintain good grades to retain their scholarship positions.

Beyond the equipment donation, Mr. Dimiri pledged to collaborate with the state government to implement training programs for students. This initiative aims to ensure effective utilization of the donated tables and provide proper guidance for students to enhance their table tennis skills.
During the ceremony, Mr. Obioma George, the Acting Director of the Abia State Sports Council, commended Mr. Dimiri for his dedication to youth development and the promotion of table tennis. He highlighted the alignment of this donation with Governor Alex Otti's mission to nurture sporting talent and foster healthy lifestyles.

In response, the School Captain conveyed heartfelt thanks on behalf of the students, pledging to take full advantage of the opportunity. He stated, "We will put our hearts and minds into learning the game, honing our skills, and striving for excellence, both in academics and on the court."
The Abia State Sports Council and Government officials have pledged full support to ensure the success of the program and witness the rise of future champions in the state.
