Taraba State University Strike Nears Resolution as Staff Reach Near 100% Agreement with Government

Taraba State University's (TSU) striking staff have nearly reached a 100% agreement with the state government to resume work, according to Vice Chancellor Prof. Sunday Bako.
This development follows successful discussions between the government and the non-academic staff over the weekend.
Prof. Bako disclosed that he has instructed the union leaders to formalize their report in a communiqué for his review before it is shared with their members. The university has also rescheduled suspended exams to commence on January 27, 2025.
The agreement is a significant step towards resolving the ongoing strike, which was triggered by issues such as outstanding salaries, inactive pension schemes, and unimplemented national minimum wage.² The Taraba State Government has demonstrated its commitment to addressing these concerns, with Governor Agbu Kefas reportedly meeting over 70% of the union's demands.
