Thomas Adewumi University (TAU) has reached a significant milestone in its commitment to global development with the successful hosting of the maiden Sustainability Impact Series and the official inauguration of the TAU SDGs Advocacy Club.

The event, organized by the TAU Centre for Sustainability Science (TAU-CSS), was held on May 12, 2026, under the theme: “Innovation and Technology for Sustainable Development.” The initiative establishes the university as a leading hub for interdisciplinary research and evidence-based interventions aimed at tackling 21st-century challenges like climate change and socio-economic inequality.

Representing the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Francisca O. Oladipo, the Dean of Student Care Services, Dr. Grace P. Dafiel, emphasized that the dialogue is essential to Nigeria’s development priorities. She noted that the university’s mission is to produce graduates who possess both technical competence and the problem-solving capacity to address real-world issues.

“At TAU, our approach is simple: we train people who can build and provide solutions that matter,” Dr. Dafiel stated, highlighting the role of Artificial Intelligence and emerging technologies in creating sustainable futures.

He urged the youth to become active contributors rather than passive observers, noting that the UN 2030 Agenda requires immediate, collaborative action.

The high point of the event was the official inauguration of the TAU SDGs Advocacy Club. The club is designed to empower undergraduates to champion the Sustainable Development Goals through advocacy, volunteering, and local community engagement.

Host and Coordinator of TAU-CSS, Mr. David A. Stephen, concluded the event by reaffirming the Centre's commitment to excellence in research and teaching, positioning TAU as a "University of Impact" aligned with global best practices.
