 The Faculty of Law at Thomas Adewumi University (TAU) recently organized a comprehensive community outreach program themed “End Digital Violence” at the University Auditorium. The initiative was designed to sensitize students and staff on the complexities and dangers of the digital landscape.

The event served as a critical platform for addressing the rise of online misconduct, providing attendees with a multi-disciplinary understanding of digital threats and protection strategies.

Technological Awareness: Experts defined the various manifestations of digital violence, including cyberbullying, cyberstalking, identity theft, and online harassment, helping participants identify subtle forms of abuse.

Legal facilitators provided essential education on the Cybercrimes Act 2015 (as amended), emphasizing the severe legal penalties awaiting offenders and the rights of victims under Nigerian law.

The session delved into the psychological toll of online abuse, highlighting its links to anxiety, depression, and long-term trauma.
