Since its inception in 2011, TechWomen has been pivotal in empowering women from diverse backgrounds to realise their dreams and become influential role models in STEM fields.
Programme Details
A Journey of Professional and Personal Growth
The TechWomen programme offers a unique blend of mentorship and cultural exchange. Participants from Africa, Central and South Asia, and the Middle East are paired with counterparts in the United States for a five-week programme. This includes:
Project-based mentorships at leading companies in San Francisco Bay Area or Chicago.
Professional development workshops and networking events.
A trip to Washington, D.C. for special meetings and events to conclude the programme.
Over 1,000 women from various countries, including Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Kenya, Lebanon, Morocco, Nigeria, Pakistan, Rwanda, South Africa, Tunisia, and Zimbabwe, have benefited from TechWomen.

Financial Support
Comprehensive Coverage of Costs
TechWomen covers numerous costs for participants, ensuring a focus on learning and growth:
Roundtrip international airfare from the participant’s home country to the United States.
Domestic airfare within the U.S.
Accommodation in San Francisco, Sunnyvale, Emeryville, or Chicago during the mentorship period.
Meals and incidentals.
Housing and hotel stay in Washington, D.C.
Public transportation and local transportation for group events.
Participants are responsible for costs related to non-program activities and any non-program-related travel.
Eligibility Criteria
Who Can Apply?
Eligible applicants must:
Be women with a minimum of two years full-time professional STEM experience (excluding internships and unpaid work).
Hold at least a bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
Be proficient in English.
Be citizens or permanent residents of the specified countries at the time of application and during the programme.
Be eligible for a U.S. J-1 exchange visitor visa.
Not have applied for a U.S. immigrant visa in the past five years (excluding the Diversity Immigrant Visa).
Not be U.S. citizens or permanent residents.
Preference will be given to those who demonstrate leadership potential, community service, entrepreneurial spirit, and a commitment to mentorship.
