Teesside University in the United Kingdom has introduced an initiative aimed at extending support to Nigerian students experiencing severe financial constraints. This announcement follows reports by the BBC on Tuesday, shedding light on the plight of numerous students who have been compelled to withdraw from their courses and depart the UK owing to their inability to meet tuition fee obligations.

The initiative, spearheaded by Teesside University, seeks to alleviate the financial burden faced by affected Nigerian students by providing funding for their flights back to Nigeria. This was following the intervention of the Nigerian government, where Abassador Christian Okeke, a representative of the Nigerian High Commission in the UK, was delegated to engage with the university's administration in finding a peaceful resolution.

In recent times, Naira depreciation have posed significant hurdles for international students, particularly those from countries like Nigeria.
