Thomas Adewumi University (TAU) marked a significant milestone in its global vision with the commissioning of the Centre for Foreign Languages and the launch of the TAU Internet Radio, during activities surrounding the University’s 2nd Convocation Ceremony at the West Campus.

Thomas Adewumi University (TAU) marked a significant milestone in its global vision with the commissioning of the Centre for Foreign Languages and the launch of the TAU Internet Radio, during activities surrounding the University’s 2nd Convocation Ceremony at the West Campus.

The event brought together the Chancellor and Founder, Engr. Dr. Johnson O. Adewumi; the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Francisca Oladipo; members of the Governing Council; the Registrar, faculty, and staff members.

Centre for Foreign Languages
The newly established Centre aims to equip TAU students with proficiency in four United Nations languages: Japanese, French, Chinese, and Arabic. This initiative aligns with the University’s new requirement that graduates demonstrate fluency in four international languages, ensuring that TAU scholars are globally competitive.

In his remarks, the Chancellor commended the Vice-Chancellor for driving the project, describing the initiative as “a golden opportunity for TAU students and staff to distinguish themselves globally.” The Centre, designed for beginners, continuing learners, and candidates preparing for international certifications, will cover grammar, vocabulary, and the four core language skills—listening, speaking, reading, and writing—through practical conversational practice.

The Centre also plans to introduce Spanish and extend its services to children, NGOs, embassies, and other professional groups. Selected students showcased their skills in Arabic, French, and Chinese during the event, demonstrating the Centre’s potential.

TAU Internet Radio
The newly launched TAU Internet Radio, introduced by the Head of the Department of Mass Communication, Mr. Ibrahim Ibukun, is set to serve as an innovative platform for digital learning, campus engagement, and global communication. The Chancellor emphasized that the radio will broadcast TAU to the world and prepare students to compete in the rapidly evolving media landscape. The launch included a live broadcast featuring interviews with the Founder, Vice-Chancellor, and Engr. Babatunde Adewumi.

The commissioning of these facilities underscores TAU’s commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and global relevance, providing students with world-class skills and expanding their international outlook, positioning them for success in a rapidly changing global environment.
