Tinubu Pledges Improved Welfare for ASUU

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has assured members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) of enhanced welfare to mitigate frequent strike actions. Speaking at the combined convocation of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Bauchi (ATBU) in Bauchi, Tinubu, represented by Ochodo James from the Federal Ministry of Education, pledged to address the underlying causes of strike actions impacting Nigerian universities.

Tinubu commended the dedication of academics amid challenges and vowed government's dedication to bolstering the university system in alignment with global standards. He decried the trend of Nigerians obtaining counterfeit degrees from substandard foreign institutions.

Bauchi State Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, represented by his deputy Auwal Mohammed Jatau, lauded ATBU's contributions to educational advancement. ATBU Vice Chancellor, Professor Muhammad Abdul’aziz, commended the federal government's backing for university funding.
