The lecture, themed “Leveraging Artificial Intelligence for Research and Learning,” is expected to bring together members of the academic community, researchers, students, and stakeholders interested in the growing role of artificial intelligence in higher education and knowledge development.
The Guest Lecturer for the event is Patience Akpan-Obong, a Professor in the School of Applied Professional Studies at Arizona State University.
According to the university, the lecture will examine how artificial intelligence can be strategically deployed to enhance research productivity, improve learning systems, and drive academic innovation in an increasingly technology-driven world.

The institution noted that as AI continues to reshape global education and research ecosystems, the public lecture is designed to provide participants with practical insights into emerging trends, opportunities, and challenges associated with the adoption of artificial intelligence in academia.
The event is scheduled to hold on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, by 3:00 p.m. at Dr. Nwabunka Hall, located within the university campus in Mkpatak, Akwa Ibom State.
