Tragedy Strikes Ebonyi Varsity: Student Dies During Football Match

A somber atmosphere enveloped Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu-Alike Ikwo (AE-FUNAI), Ebonyi State, as 200-level student Ogboji David Chukwuebuka tragically passed away after collapsing during a football match on campus.

The unfortunate incident occurred during a football competition organized by the Directorate of Sports of the Student Union Government (SUG) of the university. Ogboji, a student in the Department of Economics, was representing his faculty in a match against the Faculty of Biological Science during the freshers’ league tournament.

The news was confirmed in a statement issued by Nwankwo Polycarp Chigozie, the SUG Director of Sports, expressing heartfelt condolences to Ogboji's family, friends, and fellow students during this difficult time.
