In a heart-wrenching development, the identity of another victim, Miss Folorunsho Ariyo, has been revealed, adding to the tragic incident alongside Nabeeha Al-Kadriyar, both killed by bandits in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Ariyo, a 13-year-old secondary school student and daughter of the Chief Legal Officer of the National Universities Commission (NUC), met a gruesome fate around a former military checkpoint behind Idah Junction on the Bwari-Jere SCC Road in Kagarko LGA of Kaduna state.

The assailants kidnapped ten residents, including Miss Ariyo, her mother, and three siblings after invading Sagwari Layout Estate in Dutse on Sunday, January 7, 2024. The remains of the teenage girl were laid to rest on Sunday, January 14, 2024, in Dutse Cemetery, Abuja, while other family members remain with their abductors.

This tragic incident comes in the wake of kidnappers killing four out of ten persons abducted in the Kubwa/Dutse area of the FCT. The bodies, identified to include Ariyo and a 400-level student of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria, Nabeeeha Al-kadriyar, were dumped near Ushafa in Bwari Area Council.

Reacting to these events, First Lady Oluremi Tinubu urged security agencies to prioritize the safety and swift return of the Al-Kadriyar sisters. Meanwhile, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar expressed deep sadness over Nabeeha's death, calling for improved security measures and a prompt rescue of the remaining siblings from the kidnappers' den.
