Training for 100 Ebonyi Youths in Solar PV Installation Kicks Off as Part of Sustainable Development Initiative
A six-day training program for 100 Ebonyi youths in solar PV installation began today at Geneza Hotels. Timed with UN-SDGs Democracy Day and Ozone Layer Day, the program aims to equip participants with skills for sustainable development and economic advancement.
The training program for 100 Ebonyi youths in solar photovoltaic (PV) installation began today at Geneza Hotels on Onwe Road. The event, timed to coincide with UN-SDGs Democracy Day on September 15 and Ozone Layer Day on September 16, is designed to equip participants with valuable skills for both economic advancement and sustainable development.
In her opening address, Hon. Engr. Mrs. Esther N. Nwogha, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor and Focal Person for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), expressed gratitude to Governor Rt. Hon. Bldr. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru for supporting the initiative. She emphasized the importance of the training and encouraged the selected youths to take full advantage of the opportunity.
Assoc. Prof. Nwachukwu Arthur Nwachukwu, Dean of the Faculty of Environmental Science at Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu-Alike Ikwo and an energy/environmental consultant, provided insights into solar energy and its benefits. He also highlighted the SDGs, stressing their relevance to achieving a sustainable future.
The training, which spans six days, involves detailed instruction on the components of solar PV installation. Trainers are breaking down the process into accessible modules, ensuring participants gain a thorough understanding of the technology.
Upon completion, the youths will receive certification as skilled solar PV installers, recognized by industry standards. The program also aims to instill an understanding of the SDGs and foster entrepreneurial skills, enabling participants to start their own solar PV installation businesses and contribute to sustainable development.
