The impostors had entered a lecture hall at the Faculty of Engineering, introducing themselves as lecturers and forcing students to purchase four textbooks as a requirement for their Continuous Assessment (CA), threatening failure if they didn't comply. However, their scheme was exposed when security operatives received a report and apprehended them.
During the investigation, the suspects confessed to the allegations, revealing they were authors of the pirated books and had been to Kano State Polytechnic earlier in the year. The university has condemned this emerging trend of charlatans exploiting students and has increased surveillance to prevent future incidents.
The suspects will be handed over to the police for further action, and students will be sensitized about this issue.
