The University of Africa, Toru-Orua (UAT) has made an impressive mark at the Bayelsa State Inter-Campus News Reading Competition, emerging winner in the Pidgin English category.

The event featured strong contenders from the Niger Delta University (NDU) and the Federal University, Otuoke (FUO). While NDU took the lead in the English category, UAT’s outstanding showing in the Pidgin category underscored the university’s growing reputation for excellence and versatility in communication.

Representing UAT, Dogood Elizabeth clinched first place in the Pidgin English category with a captivating and fluent delivery that earned top commendations from the judges. In the English category, Flourish Ebitimi secured a second-place finish, further cementing UAT’s strong presence in the competition.

Organized by the Mass Communication Department of NDU, the event was described as “the first of its kind” in Nigeria, drawing remarkable participation from institutions across the state.

In attendance were Dr. Leader Stanley (Head, Mass Communication Department, UAT), Dr. Ofonmbuk Ibanga, Comr. Jackline Binlam (MACOSA President), and other chaperones who commended the students for their exceptional performances and for representing UAT with pride and distinction.
