UDUS Female Support Association Set to Organize Public Lecture on Girl Child Empowerment

In celebration of the International Day for the Girl Child, the Female Support Association of Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto (UDUS) is set to host a public lecture titled "Girl Child: Vision for the Future".

The event will take place on Friday, October 11, 2024, at the MH3 Lecture Hall, UDUS Permanent Site, starting at 10:00 a.m.

According to flier released by the association, the lecture will focus on key issues surrounding the empowerment and future of the girl child, featuring presentations from three distinguished speakers. Prof. Mairo Abdullahi,  from the Faculty of Management Sciences, will speak on Business Management: A Fulcrum for Girl-Child Resilience".

Prof. Asiyatu Abubakar Bagudo,  from the Department of Adult Education and Extension Services, will discuss "Change Makers: Empowering the Girl Child to Drive Social Change". Additionally, Dr. Zainab Abdullahi, from the Health Service Department, will address "Reproductive Health and STDs.

The event will be graced by several notable personalities, including the wife of the Vice-Chancellor of UDUS, who will serve as the Mother of the Day, and the Honourable Commissioner of the Ministry for Women and Children Affairs, as the Special Guest.  Prof. Sadiya Omar and Hajiya Inno Ahmed Dogon Daji  both patronesses of the association, will also grace the occasion.

This lecture is organized to unite and inspire female supporters worldwide as part of the global celebration of the International Day for the Girl Child, established by the United Nations in 2011 to recognize girls' rights and the unique challenges they face.
