Inter-Watch Press, one of the press outlets dwelling on the soil of UDUS conducted essential training on news reporting for its new members on May 10th, 2024, at the students' union secretariat.

The training, led by Mr Sheu Mubarak, Deputy Editor-in-chief, and facilitated by Ayinla Abdulbasit, Editor-in-chief, emphasized the significance of news reports and outlined their essential features.

Mr Mubarak began by defining a news report as giving an account of an event or occasion, highlighting its key components: headline, by-line, lead, body, and conclusion. He stressed that headlines should be concise and brief, containing not more than 12 words, yet captivating enough to attract readers' interest.

Furthermore, Mr Mubarak explained that a good news report should address the five W's and one H: when, where, who, what, why, and how.

Concluding the session, Mr Mubarak engaged the new members by soliciting feedback on their takeaways from the training, encouraging active participation and learning.
