UDUS Medical Laboratory Science Student Spreads Message of Antimicrobial Resistance in Niger

Rafiat Suleiman, a student from the School of Medical Laboratory Science (SMLS), Usmanu Danfodiyo University, has reached hundreds of secondary school students in Niger State with the message of antimicrobial resistance.

The student-led outreach was organized under the Usmanu Danfodiyo University Youth Antimicrobial Resistance Stewards (UDUYARS) to celebrate the World Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) awareness week. It was held this week at Mustapha Comprehensive School in Kontagora, Niger State.

At the heart of the outreach was a simple but powerful message: antimicrobial resistance occurs when bacteria and other microbes develop the ability to defeat the drugs designed to kill them.
