UI Students' Union Launches 'Project Stomach Infrastructure' to Provide Meals for Students
The University of Ibadan Students’ Union (UI SU) has launched "Project Stomach Infrastructure 1.0" to provide free meals to 1,200 students monthly throughout the 2023/2024 academic session.
The University of Ibadan Students’ Union (UI SU) has introduced a pioneering initiative known as “Project Stomach Infrastructure 1.0” aimed at addressing food insecurity among its student body, affectionately referred to as Uites.

Announced by UI SU President Aweda Bolaji, the project aims to cater to the nutritional needs of 1,200 students monthly, completely free of charge. This initiative comes in response to the financial challenges faced by many students, ensuring they have access to regular meals throughout the 2023/2024 academic session.
Under the arrangement, all costs associated with providing meals will be covered by SBJ Foods and Drinks, a commitment that underscores the corporate social responsibility of the company towards supporting student welfare.

Students interested in benefiting from Project Stomach Infrastructure are advised to obtain meal slots (tickets) from the Office of the Assistant General Secretary (AGS) located in the Students' Union Building (SUB). Distribution of these tickets will take place weekdays from 12 PM to 4 PM, starting July 1, 2024.
The initiative marks a significant step towards enhancing student well-being at UI, ensuring that hunger does not hinder academic pursuits. By offering meals free of financial burden, the UI SU aims to create a conducive environment where all students can thrive academically and socially.
