UI VC Calls for Data-Driven Culture to Foster Economic Growth
The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ibadan, Professor Kayode O. Adebowale, has emphasized the importance of adopting a data-driven culture for informed decision-making to drive economic growth.
He made this call while receiving the Dean of the Faculty of Science and the Head of the Department of Statistics, who paid a courtesy visit to notify him of the upcoming World Statistics Day.
Professor Adebowale stressed that informed decision-making is crucial for achieving excellence and providing clear direction. He noted that the World Statistics Day serves as a reminder for governments and researchers to leverage data for policy-making and cutting-edge research.
The Vice-Chancellor highlighted the importance of distinguishing between raw data and statistically analyzed data, particularly in today's complex world.
The 2025 World Statistics Day, themed "Driving Change with Quality Statistics and Data for Everyone," will take place on October 20, 2025, at the University of Ibadan. The event aims to promote the importance of statistics in informed decision-making across all sectors of society.
